OGUN ASSEMBLY INVITES BUDGET COMMISSIONER ON MEDIUM TERM EXPENDITURE PROPOSAL
Barely 48 hours after receiving the proposal for the consideration and approval of the 2022-2024 State Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) from the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, Ogun State House of Assembly has invited the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mr. Olaolu Olabimtan to brief lawmakers on the basis for the three year-expenditure planning process.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo, while inviting the Commissioner during today’s plenary to appear on Tuesday, 31st August, 2021 at 11:00am, noted that the invitation was meant to brief the lawmakers on the basis, planning and budget formulation process projected by the Executive to the legislative arm.
It would be recalled that the Assembly at its previous plenary received Abiodun’s correspondence conveying the proposed 2022-2024 MTEF, with an explanation that it was meant to aid the smooth process of planning and budgeting for Year 2022 and for the outer years of 2023 and 2024 to continue in earnest.
In another development, Speaker Oluomo has tasked the State Ministry of Works to liaise with the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) to as a matter of public urgency, put in place palliative measures on the failed portions of the Lagos- Abeokuta Expressway and Sango-Idiroko road to provide succor to road users, especially motorists plying the routes.
Oluomo threw the challenge in his response to the submission of a lawmaker representing Ado-Odo/Ota I State Constituency, who is also the Majority Leader, Yusuf Sheriff, while speaking under Personal Explanations.
The Speaker lamented the deplorable state of the Federal roads, adding that the present administration in the State through its Works Ministry had applied palliatives on the failed sections of the Sango-Ota road.
In another development, Speaker oluomo announced that the Assembly would organize stakeholders’ fora on two bills namely: Ogun State Administration of Physical Planning, Urban Development, Slum Regeneration and Building Production Management law, 2021 as well as Ogun State Residents Registration Agency and the Registration of Ogun State Residents Law, 2021 respectively on Wednesday, 1st September, 2021 at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
