Ogun Information Ministry Pledges Improved Communication, Proposes N2bn Budget
The Ogun State Ministry of Information and Strategy has reiterated its commitment to strengthening communication channels between the government and the people to enhance public understanding of policies and programmes.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Communications, Mr. Kayode Akinmade, gave this assurance while presenting the Ministry’s 2025 budget proposal before the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, led by Hon. Musefiu Lamidi, at the Assembly Complex in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
Akinmade highlighted the Ministry’s dedication to deploying innovative communication strategies to foster two-way dialogue and mobilize citizens for sustainable development. “We are focused on reawakening the public to embrace Ogun State’s core values and leveraging the successes of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s developmental strides to strengthen the state’s brand identity,” he said.
He added that the Ministry’s activities would remain grounded in the principles of separation of powers, ensuring balanced publicity for all arms of government. “We will continue to assist every organ of government in effectively communicating their activities to the public,” Akinmade affirmed.
The Ministry proposed a total budget of N2.023 billion for 2025, with N328 million allocated for capital projects, N1.23 billion for overhead costs, and N461 million for personnel expenses.
Responding to the proposal, members of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation urged the Ministry to strengthen collaboration with other agencies to ensure citizens are well-informed about government initiatives.
“The Ministry has a critical role in ensuring that government achievements resonate with the people. Enhanced collaboration will deepen public trust and participation,” remarked Hon. Musefiu Lamidi.
Also defending their budget proposals were Ogun State Television (OGTV), Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation (OGBC), and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. These agencies outlined plans to align their operations with the broader objectives of the state’s development agenda.
