OGHA ASSURES NUT OF IMPROVED LEGISLATIVE SUPPORT ON WELFARE, RECEIVES TEAM FROM HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION

OGHA SPEAKER CHARGES ALGON ON COLLABORATION FOR GRASSROOTS DEVELOPMENT

The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, has called for stronger collaboration between the State Legislature and the Local Government Councils, describing the third tier of government as “critical pillars of grassroots development.”

Rt. Hon. Elemide made the call while receiving the executive members of the State Chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

The Speaker cautioned that any invitations by the State Legislature to the local government officials should not be misconstrued as witch-hunting, rather as part of the Assembly’s quasi-judicial or oversight functions.

“We expect your prompt responses whenever the House calls upon you, as this synergy is vital for effective governance,” the Speaker stated.

He reaffirmed the Assembly’s dedication to working closely with the local government councils to deliver democratic dividends to all residents of the State.

Earlier in his presentation, the Chairman of ALGON in the State, who is the Chairman, Odeda Local Government Council, Dr. Folasade Adeyemi, appreciated the Speaker’s continued support, particularly to returning members of the Association, while pledging their commitment to open collaboration with the State legislature in addressing grassroots developmental challenges.
