OGUN ASSEMBLY SEEKS IMPROVED FUNDING FOR BUILDING PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY, TRACE

Concerned by the need to further strengthen the enforcement of building regulations, thereby promoting public safety, the Ogun State House of Assembly has urged the State Government to consider improved funding of the State Building Production Management Authority.

The Chairman, House Committee on Public Accounts and Anti-corruption, Hon. Damilare Bello, disclosed this while considering the 2023 financial report of the agency as presented by the Acting General Manager of Building Production Management Authority (OGBPMA), Builder Titilayo Oladogbon, at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

Hon, Bello, in company the Minority Leader, Lukman Adeleye, Honourables Musefiu Lamidi, Dickson Awolaja and Babatunde Tella, explained that the plea became necessary so as to further discharge its duties effectively towards ensuring due diligence in preventing incidences of building collapse within the State.

The House Committee further commended the agency for its improved revenue drive in the financial year under consideration, imploring them to redouble their efforts, while blocking all leakages for effective financial management.

In a related development, the House Committee considered the financial report of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), with an admonition to the State Government to consider improved funding to the agency to further enhance the delivery of its mandate for a safer road motoring.

The House Committee directed that the cash inflow and outflow of the agency, and supporting documents on fines and penalty for the year under review to be submitted within the next 48 Hours.

In their separate responses, the Acting General Manager of Building Production Management Authority (OGBPMA), Builder Oladogbon and the Commandant of TRACE, Seni Ogunyemi, assured that more strategies would be put in place to further strengthen their operation while checkmating revenue leakages.

In another development, the Committee considered the financial reports of the State Public Works Agency and the State Hospital, Isara.
