OGUN HOUSE COMMITTEE CHALLENGES MINISTRY ON REVENUE GENERATION
Ogun State House of Assembly Committee on Commerce and Industry has charged the management of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment to scale up efforts in revenue generation and consolidate existing economic gains made by the State Government through industrial development and trade facilitation.
The House Committee Chairman, Hon. Adebisi Oyedele, gave the charge during the ongoing 2025 mid-year budget performance appraisal by the State lawmakers at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
Hon. Oyedele, while acknowledging the Ministry’s notable efforts within the period, encouraged the team to streamline revenue collection to prevent multiple taxation and ensure that projected revenue target for the year is achieved.
The House Committee also invited the State Economic Transformation Project (OGSTEP) to appear before it on Wednesday by 2:00 PM.
Earlier in his presentation, the State Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr. Adebola Sofela, disclosed that the Ministry had generated ₦261m within the period.
He highlighted the successful hosting of the 14th Gateway International Trade Fair in collaboration with OGUNCCIMA, themed “Energy and Agriculture as Panacea of Economic and Sustainable Multi-Sectoral Growth: Ogun Pathway to Economic Prosperity,” as a key milestone within the review period.
The Commissioner further stated that road haulage revenue collection had improved through the deployment of new agents to toll points, alongside enhanced automation of internal processes for better efficiency.
