OGHA SCREENS JUDICIAL SERVICE COMMISSION NOMINEE, AS SPEAKER PLEDGES SUPPORT FOR SCHOOL SPORTS
Ogun State House of Assembly has screened the nominee of the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for appointment into the State Judicial Service Commission, Barrister Godwin Adeleke Solarin, with a charge on him to make positive impact in the discharge of his duties if confirmed.
Presiding over the screening at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, in company of other lawmakers commended the nominee for his impressive curriculum vitae and track record of service to the State; while urging him to serve with equity, justice and fairness in the performance of his responsibilities if confirmed.
Responding, the nominee, a native of Ode-Lemo in Sagamu Local Government Area and the pioneer Chairman of Sagamu South Local Government in 2003, appreciated the Governor for his nomination and thanked the lawmakers for the confidence reposed in him; promising to serve the State diligently as he joins the team working to make a meaningful impact in the administration of justice in the State.
In another development, Speaker Elemide has pledged the Assembly’s support to the National Association of Primary School Games and Sports Teachers (NAPSGAST) ahead of its forthcoming championship in the State; just as he lauded the association for its commitment to sports development and education at the primary school level.
The Speaker made the pledge, while receiving the members of the delegation from the association led by the Vice Chairman( South West) of the Sports Officers Association of Nigeria, Mr. Adewale Adeogun, alongside the State Chairman of the association, Comrade Ope Dimeji Adisa, who were on a courtesy visit on the Assembly, at the Assembly, Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
The association also seized the opportunity to present the competition trophy to the Speaker and sought his support and his colleague-lawmakers in ensuring the successful hosting of the championship in the State.
Meanwhile, the State House of Assembly Committee on Public Accounts and Anti-Corruption has urged Governor Dapo Abiodun to further develop the libraries across the State to meet international standard through their upgrade into digital and smart libraries.
The Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Damilare Bello, made the call while interfacing with the management of the State Library Board led by the Executive Director, Vincent Giwa, during the ongoing consideration of the 2024 Auditor-General’s Report.
The House Committee also engaged with the Management of the State Internal Revenue Service led by its Coordinating Director, Mr. Taiwo Ogundimu and the State Institute of Technology, Igbesa headed by the Rector, Abiodun Oluseye for the consideration of their Auditor-General’s Report.
