OGUN INFO MINISTRY COMMENDED FOR EFFECTIVE INFORMATION DISSEMINATION
The Ogun State House of Assembly has commended the State Ministry of Information and Strategy for its ingenuity at evolving self-reliant strategies in the promotion of policies and programmes of Government to the citizenry.
Members of the House of Assembly through its Committee on Information, Culture and Tourism led by Hon. Oludare Kadiri gave the commendation during the Committee’s oversight visit to the Ministry to appraise its 2017 Budget at the Press Centre, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
The lawmakers including Honourables Rasaq Oduntan, Olayiwola Ojodu, Ganiu Oyedeji Olujimi Otukoya, Tunde Sanusi and Bowale Solaja applauded the transparency in the budget implementation process of the Ministry with a charge on the Management of the Ministry to evolve more measures at improving on their revenue drive which they described as laudable and remarkable even in the face of daunting challenges.
The committee members while acknowledging the effective coverage and reportage of government activities through a two-way communication noted that the strategies and ingenuity adopted in the face of economic downturn in the nation had assisted in keeping the residents of the State adequately informed about government activities.
They added that the information personnel at various Ministries, Departments and Agencies of Government had embraced the online information dissemination platforms at achieving enlightenment and awareness of various plans and policies of the Senator Ibikunle Amosun – led administration.
The members explained that the annual exercise which was a core function of the legislature was meant to promote transparency and accountability in the activities of Ministries, Departments and Agencies of Government (MDAs).
Earlier in his submissions, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Chief Dayo Adeneye, said that the Ministry had in the period under review, designed and carried out various print and broadcast programmes to effectively project government’s policies and programmes.
Adeneye, in company of other management staff, also sought for more legislative support at ensuring more achievements in information dissemination to achieve the success of ongoing Rebuilding Mission, disclosing that the Ministry recorded 87.47% revenue increase as at August, promising that the Ministry was working relentlessly to surpass the feat next year.
The Commissioner added that the Ministry had ensured blockage of revenue leakages through strict compliance with the Appropriation Act, assuring that the Ministry under his leadership remained committed to being result-oriented.
The Committee also visited Ogun State Printing Corporation, where it charged the Management to be more proactive in marketing the Corporation to achieve the desired result.
Other agencies visited included the Ministries of Culture and Tourism, Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs.
