OGUN ASSEMBLY VISITS OGERE INTERNATIONAL PRODUCE MARKET AHEAD OF KARA RELOCATION

Ogun State House of Assembly today visited the Ogere International Produce Market ahead of the relocation of the Oluwanisola Kara cattle market traders to the new site at Ogere being prepared by the State government.

The visitation was meant to ascertain the level of amenities being put in place by the State government ahead of the December, 2024 deadline for the relocation of the Kara Market traders.

Leading the visitation team, the Chairman, House Committee on Environment, Hon. Samusideen Lawal in company of his colleague-lawmakers including Honourables Waliu Owode and Lukmon Atobatele, noted that the trading activities at Ogere International produce market would receive a major boost and through the advancement of more development to the host communities.

According to the Committee Chairman, the change in the market location was a laudable initiative that would benefit everyone and also expand the State Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), appealing to all parties concerned to work with the present administration in ensuring that the relocation process was successfully completed before the deadline, while appreciating the State government for the laudable initiative.

He added that the modern day facilities with automated semi-slaughtered house being put in place by government would improve the commercial activities at the market.

Speaking, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Sam Oyeleye, stated that the State government would see to the deployment of security agencies to monitor the trading activities in the area, while securing the lives and properties of the community.

Responding, the Secretary, Ologere in Council, Otunba Adeolu Idowu, said that the Ogere Council had been responsible for securing the properties at Ogere market against some intruders, saying that the community welcome the new investors and promised peaceful trading relationships .
