OGUN ASSEMBLY LAUDS IMMIGRATION SERVICE ON SPEEDY ISSUANCE OF PASSPORT, ENHANCEMENT OF SECURITY
Ogun State House of Assembly has lauded the State Command of Immigration Service on the recent reforms introduced in the the issuance of Nigerian passport, which has led to a seamless and speedy process for the issuance to all applicants.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, gave the commendation, while playing host to the officials from the State Command of Immigration Service led by the Comptroller, Grace Olaitan Adeoye at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
The Speaker noted that a lot had improved in the process of the issuance of the Nigerian passport and other services being rendered by the Immigration Service, while acknowledging their roles in the promotion of peace and security in all parts of the State, especially along the border areas.
He promised that the Assembly would continue to collaborate with the organisation in enhancing its operations in the State.
In their remarks, Honourables Wahab Haruna, Fola Salami and the Majority Leader Yusuf Sheriff, acknowledged the laudable achievements of the State Command of Immigration, soliciting for a more proactive intervention in curbing illegal activities of some aliens around the border areas to strengthen security along the border communities.
Earlier in her speech, Comptroller Adeoye sought for collaboration between the State and the Command to complement their efforts in all its operations.
She recalled that about 22 Beninoires, who were constituting nuisance in some local government areas in the State were recently picked up and repatriated, just like a few other similar cases handled by the Command to rid the State of illegal immigrants.
