Ogun State Property and Investment Corporation (OPIC) says it plans to spend the sum of N3.889bn as its total expenditure for the next fiscal year.

The Managing Director/ SA OPIC, Mr. Abiodun Fari-Arole stated this while defending the Corporation’s 2022 budget estimate before members of the State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation chaired by Hon. Olakunle Sobukanla at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

Fari- Arole noted that the amount would take care of the completion of the second phase of Housing at the King’s Court Estate Phase II, Abeokuta and BOFT Apartment at Warewa; the opening up of internal access road at Agbara and New Makun City to enhance sales of land and ease the movement of occupants within the Estate, as well as commencement of the development of two new Estates at Siun Axis and Ijebu- Ode/ Epe Express road amongst others

Giving a breakdown of the budget estimate, the MD stated that out of the total, the sum of N2.899bn would be set aside for capital expenses, N482m for personnel cost, with N507m being earmarked for overhead, while over N6.4bn was the proposed revenue for the period.

In another development, Ogun State Ministry of Justice says it remains committed to ensuring that the people of the State have unhindered access to justice, having set machineries in motion towards enhancing equity and promoting fair play in the administration of justice in the State.

The State Attorney-General/Commissioner, Mr. Oluwashina Ogungbade (SAN) stated this while he took turn to defend the ministry’s budget estimate before the lawmakers.

He noted that more would be achieved through effectively and efficiently handling of all legal matters pertaining to the people, the government and its agencies.

The Commissioner added that the Ministry planned to construct building for Committee on rehabilitation and correctional administration of criminal justice, monitoring centre as well as Zonal offices for the Citizens Rights Department in Ota and other areas of the State to strengthen the available legal/judicial infrastructure and thereby enhance public accessibility to justice.

Ogungbade disclosed that the ministry proposed a budget estimate of N763m as total expenditure for next year, out of which personnel cost would take N438.7m, while N202m would go for overhead and the remaining N122.1m would be expended on capital projects.

The State Judiciary, Judicial Service Commission, Ogun State Customary Court of Appeal also defended their 2022 budget proposals before the State lawmakers.

Others agencies that defended their budget estimates included the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Bureau of Local Government Pensions and State Investment Promotion and Facilitation Agency and State Market Board amongst others.
