ROAD PROJECTS: OGUN LAWMAKERS SEEK EFFECTIVE SUPERVISION BY MINISTRY OF WORKS

Members of the State House of Assembly Committee on Works and Infrastructure have challenged the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure to implement stricter monitoring protocols for project contractors in order to justify government’s investment on road Infrastructure for the benefits of the people.

Members of the House Committee led by Hon. Adegoke Adeyanju explained that there was need for effective supervision by professionals from the ministry during construction and post-completion stages to ensure that the projects meet quality standards and deliver long-term value for the residents of the State, saying that the Prince Dapo Abiodun – led administration’s investment in infrastructure must be protected.

He also sought the need to solidify the ministry’s relationship with the Federal Ministry of Works, by building stronger collaboration, which he noted was crucial for tackling the state’s infrastructure challenges.

“By working hand-in-hand, Ogun State can leverage on Federal resources and expertise to address deficient infrastructure more comprehensively”, he stated

Also speaking, the Chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Hon. Musefiu Lamidi, sought the intervention of the ministry for the conclusion of Works on Ado/ Odo- Ikoga road, while also demanding an immediate adjustment to some portions along Iweke- Iwoye of the newly commissioned Ilaro-Owode Yewa road.

Responding, the Permanent Secretary in Ministry, Engr. Yusuf Oladimeji, said the Ministry had completed many urban road projects, while palliative works were carried out on some major roads within the State which had helped increased the socio-economic activities of the people in the State.

He listed some of the roads to include the Siun-Owode road (phase one) along Siun-Owode-Ofada road in Obafemi-Owode Local Government, Sagamu junction to Iperu roundabout and Iperu roundabout to Ode junction in Sagamu/lkenne Local Government Areas and the Hospital road, Ogijo Sagamu Local Government Area which had also been commissioned.

Others are the newly commissioned Ilaro- Owode road in Yewa South Local Government Area; saying that the Ministry had completed so many urban road projects, which had increased the socio-economic activities of the good people of Ogun State.
