SPEAKER URGES CHRISTIANS TO EXEMPLIFY RIGHTEOUSNESS IN POLITICS
The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, has called on Christians to let their faith reflect in their character, particularly as the get involved in governance in whatever levels.
The Speaker gave the adminition during a courtesy visit by Pastor Dayo Olusoga, of the ‘Heirs Church’, to the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, stressing the importance of integrating christian values into all aspects of life.
According to him, “If you are a Christian, it must show in your character, no religion preaches vices”, lamenting the growing trend of churches compromising their core principles to attract members, which he noted had blurred the lines between secular lifestyles and spiritual values among youths.
He admonished churches to maintain high integrity while guiding young people toward righteousness, while encouraging them to draw inspiration from biblical figures like Peter, James, and John rather than Judas.
He urged Christians to take politics as a platform to shape their character and advance societal good, emphasizing the need for moral accountability and lead by example.
Earlier in his presentation, Pastor Olusoga, reaffirmed the church’s commitment to collaborating with the government in the service of God and nation-building; highlighting the role of the church in fostering societal growth through the promotion of moral values and spiritual discipline.
He expressed readiness to partner with the government in ensuring in initiatives that align with shared vision of societal transformation and nation building.
