BREACH OF CONTRACTUAL AGREEMENT/ THREAT TO LIFE: OGHA RE- INVITES MANAGEMENTS OF ZAMA PLASTIC, OGUN QUANDONG FTZ
Ogun State House of Assembly through its Committee on Justice, Ethics and Public Petitions Chaired by Hon. (Barrister) Oluseun Adesanya, has re-invited the Management of Zama Plastics Industry FZE led by Ms. Mu Ruihong and Ms. Mu Ge as well as the Management of Ogun Quandong Free Trade Zone, Igbesa to appear before it next Tuesday, 11th of March, 2025 over the formal complaint by one of the parties, Ms. Zeng Yan on allegation of ” Threat to Investment, Breach of Agreement and Breach of Peace”, at the Ogun- Gwangdong Free Trade Zone” in the State.
Hon. Adesanya, while presiding over the meeting today in company of other lawmakers including the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Bolanle Lateefat Ajayi and the Majority Leader Yusuf Sheriff, decried the attitude of the respondents for refusing to honour the agreement reached with petitioner, who was the Chairman of Zama Plastic FZE, Ms. Zeng Yan in the presence of the Committee at the last meeting, and also failed to attend today’s meeting.
The House Committee Chairman noted that section 128 of the constitution empowers the Assembly to conduct investigations, just as the Assembly would not hesitate to invoke section 129 (d) of the constitution to issue a warrant to compel the invitees to attend subsequent meetings of the House Committee with a view to resolving the conflict before it snowballs in to breach of peace.
He therefore warned that failure of the respondents including the Management of Zama Plastic FZE Ms. Mu Ruihong , Ms. Mu Ge and the Management of the Ogun Quandong Free Trade Zone would result in issuing a warrant to compel them to attend the next meeting.
It would be recalled that the Assembly had at the meeting the previous week, through its Committee on Justice, Ethics and Public Petitions led by Hon. (Barrister) Adesanya, had directed the Management of Zama Plastics Industry FZE to return all share capitals and rights accrued to its chairman, Zeng Yan, an aggrieved partner, who is also a chinese national and investor in the Ogun-Guandong Free Trade Zone.
The resolution was reached during a tripartite meeting at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, the previous week involving all parties in the formal complaint by one of the parties, Ms. Zeng Yan on allegation of ” Threat to Investment, Breach of Agreement and Breach of Peace”, at the Ogun- Gwangdong Free Trade Zone” in the State but the respondents failed to keep to the resolution prompting further deliberation on the matter.
The House Committee also extended an invite to the management of the Ogun-Guandong Free Trade Zone alongside that of Zama Plastic who was also the respondent to appear before the Committee today but failed to honour the Assembly’s invitation, which necessitated another meeting for next Tuesday, 11th of March, 2025.
The Committee Chairman in company of the Deputy Speaker, Majority Leader Yusuf Sherriff and Honourables Damilola Soneye, Damilare Bello, Olusegun Odunuga, Babatunde Tella, Lukman Adeleye, Adegoke Adeyanju, Ayodele Wasiu, Dickson Awolaja and Waliu Owode, stressed the need for a peaceful resolution of the matter between the petitioner and the respondents within five days.
At the previous meeting of the House Committee, the petitioner and counsel to the petitioner had reported that the defendants, who were co-shareholders of Zama Plastics Industry FZE ousted her from the organisation, stripped her off her rights and chairman and barred her from subsequent entry into the industry situated on a piece of land she leased from the management of the Free Trade Zone.
This, she noted was contrary to their ‘Partners’ Investment Agreement’, the co- shareholders also refused to give her a definite date on when her capital stake of 38% in the company would be repaid.
The defendants rebutted the petitioners’ prayers and laid allegations of financial misconduct and refusal to provide evidence of her land lease from the Ogun-Guanngdong free trade zone.
